Karin Kukkonen is Academy of Finland Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Turku. Her publications include a book on Contemporary Comics Storytelling (2013), a textbook for Studying Comics and Graphic Novels (2013), as well as several articles on cognitive narratology, the eighteenth-century novel and poetics. In her postdoctoral project “Rules of Old,” she has investigated the cognitive implications of the neoclassical rules of poetics (such as poetic justice) and their impact on the narrative shape of the novel. Currently, her work focuses on “How the Novel Found its Feet”, researching the emergence of stylistic and narrative strategies for immersion and embodiment in eighteenth-century fiction.
