Roy Sommer

Roy Sommer is Professor of English at the University of Wuppertal (Germany). He studied English, German and Russian at the University of Regensburg, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Cologne and the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute, Moscow, and obtained both his PhD (2000) and venia legendi (2004) from Justus Liebig University, Giessen. He serves as the director of the Center for Graduate Studies, a cross-faculty institution, and is a founding member of the interdisciplinary Center for Narrative Research at the University of Wuppertal. He has published widely in the areas of multicultural fiction, literary theory and film studies, with a focus on narratology and narratological approaches. He is currently working on a book on storysharing and intercultural fiction.
